This series was born to go through a time of sorrow that has affected me and my family.

The disappearance of a family member is always a moment of pain, if it is after a long rare and degenerative illness it is something, perhaps, more complex, if it is a young member and if it is a daughter, it is even more complex.

It all starts with chapter one, the day of the funeral, the day of farewell.

That day was the last of the fall season, I saw a female hornet resting on my aunt's watering can.

In another situation, I would have run away screaming. I hate hornets , my grandparents taught me they are very aggressive.

But this female seemed not to be interested in me, or the other family members. She moved slowly, more and more slowly and I could get close enough to photograph her.

At that moment I understood that she was dying.

One of the most terrifying predators in the Apennine habitat was dying before my eyes and my mind could not help but catch that moment as a sign of nature. Thus was born the first chapter, from the last moments of life of a female hornet at the sea of Leghorn, a journey where I symbolically wanted to bring the soul of the lost person from the mountains to the sea with my own eyes.
